About Park City UT
Located in the heart of Park City, Utah, Park City Proper is a tribute to the town's Victorian mining history. Known as the historic district, Old Town is conveniently located between Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort. The main attraction of the area is the picturesque Main Street, where visitors and residents can enjoy historic architecture and unique shopping opportunities.
Park City was first settled by Mormon pioneers in the late 19th century and incorporated in 1894. Soon after, silver was discovered in the area, leading to the growth of the town as miners came to work in the Silver King Mine. Later on in the 1960s, skiing became popular in Park City and led to the development of a thriving tourism industry. Today, Park City Proper offers upscale shopping and dining, historic public buildings and homes, top-notch resort accommodations, and a vibrant arts scene, all of which attract over 700,000 annual visitors.
Park City Proper includes Old Town as well as the neighborhoods of Prospector, Aerie, and Thaynes Canyon. In these areas, you’ll find beautifully-renovated historic miners' cottages, 19th-century townhomes with modern interiors, luxury penthouses at the base of the ski resorts, and beautiful ski-in/ski-out homes tucked into the mountains.

Firewood is another popular spot that serves classic American food cooked on a wood-fire stove, with a unique atmosphere featuring industrial and turn-of-the-century decor. Finally, High West Distillery is a must-visit for craft beer and whiskey lovers: its historic saloon serves delicious food and old-world spirits, and you can tour the distillery when you’re done with your meal.
Park City Proper is also known for its art scene. The area has hosted the Sundance Film Festival since 1985, and every year Park City becomes a major destination for some of the world’s best and brightest new filmmakers. Gallery Mar exhibits work by nationally-recognized artists and caters to collectors of all kinds, and the Kimball Arts Festival is a popular event bringing local and international artists together to celebrate their work.
